Florabella Color Matte Actions & Design Kit REVIEW

Florabella released her newest & very cool Color Matte Actions & Design Kit today. I wanted to do a quick overview of what the set is.. my thoughts on it & show some samples of how I personally have used it:)

These aren't actions to edit your images for you. They are actions to help you display your photos in a very pretty & fun way. This is intended to be used for online presentation AND for marketing materials, albums, card templates, etc. The possibilities are endless & since I have been testing them for awhile I just keep coming up with new ideas. I also watched the overview videos on her site & now have a million more ideas. I can't wait to see how other people use them:)

They are essentially two sets. They are bundled together to save some $$ which I recommend as I use them together. You can also purchase them separately as well. I'll start with the first set:

Color Matte Actions-

You may see people around the web posting a vertical image with another slot for an image next to it, but instead of an image it's a block of color. I have done this a lot. It just messes up the flow if you have a vertical image that doesn't have a companion piece whether it's another image or just color.

This set expands on that & gives you a bunch of options other than the diptych format(which is also included in the set). You can add a color matte on the left, right, (both L & R as well) & bottom of your vertical images. This adds interest for online presentation & a TON of options to design your own printed materials. No worries though, the horizontal image has options as well! You can add a color matte to the bottom of the image or to the top & bottom. All of these choices also have the option of having a white line between the image & the matte or the matte can be flush with the image. I love that option! It makes things much easier than having to do it yourself & also gives you the same exact line width every time:)

includes:

Standard Color Mattes (great for single vertical images esp when doing a single image post on blog or fb! Also perfect for printed materials with a single vertical image.)
Diptych Color Mattes (perfect to use for single image verticals while doing a long blog post with horizontal images, websites, or on printed materials where you want a horizontal format but want to use a vertical image.)
12x12 Color Mattes (square format great for designing album pages, square cards & fun blog, fb posts!)
BONUS: Facebook Color Mattes (timeline cover templates & a very cool option to make image timeline highlight size!)
BONUS: Also comes with updated Facebook Resize & Sharpen actions & custom web sizes.

Design Kit:

To me this set is what makes the presentation for my style. Since I can't seem to control myself.. of course I want to add on awesome textures, overlays & embellishments! I've always used textures in my work & presentation of images online.. I also have a banner in my current logo. So this fits me perfectly! It adds interest & depth to the layout for online presentation & the possibilities are just completely endless when it comes to how to use them, where to use them & what to use them with. You have the ability to make it a bit fancier & dainty with Damask or Lace. You can vintage it up with grungy, vintage, scratchy textures & scotch tape. Then you can also just have some fun with chevron, diagonal lines & striped paper overlays + some cool ribbons to customize or add text like names, logos, watermarks etc.

includes:

5 texures(vintage paper, grunge, old canvas, linen & scratched)- I LOVE vintage paper!!
7 digital paper overlays (chevron patterns, diagonal lines, horizontal stripes & damask designs) - Love the Chevron options & the diagonal lines!
ribbon banners- white ribbons or black (can customize color!)
scotch tape- very cool!
lace trim- so pretty!

Here are just a few of my ideas while testing this set(see more examples & watch some VERY helpful videos on how to use them + ideas on the FLORABELLA WEBSITE:
