Mention Monday | Franklin Tn Photographer

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I have a few exciting things to mention to you all and I am gonna cram it all into one post! So dig in and I hope you like what you read, see, and hear :)

NEW YEAR LONG CHALLENGE!

I am so excited about this! I have been saying for a few months now how I want to try and shoot just for ME a bit more... challenge my creativity and let this year be full of inspiration. I had been toying with the idea of partnering up with someone for a weekly challenge. Having a partner would require me to be held accountable to actually do it.. haha.. and I NEED that.

So next was to find a partner... I joined Flickr a few months back and was literally floored by the amount of creativity going on and immediately found several photographers whose images really inspired me. One of the main ones being Denne ... a mother of 3 girls(beauties btdubs), wife, and all around cool person(& likes True Blood..PLUS!). She resides in California and from the looks of her images she lives in a magical fairy land... really!?.. my backyard looks like a junkyard compared to hers!

After figuring that we had similar yet different enough to make it interesting styles I approached her with the challenge... she awesomely agreed! So what is our challenge you ask?? Well every week we look to see what the number one song on the alternative itunes chart is... then take that and interpret it into a photograph! Super cool right??? Something different and obviously incorporates my love of music! Yay me!

So here we are and it was a lot harder than we thought! haha However we still rocked it out and got it done.. I can't wait to see what we come up with in the weeks to come. Also a note of *meant to be* is we both did hand pics.. so cool we had no idea that the other one did it!

My music of the weekend:

It has been 20 years since the amazing Stevie Ray Vaughan lost his life in a helicopter crash... and I have been jamming to both SRV and Jimmie Vaughan in tribute this weekend. Here is one of my favorite songs.. so beautiful! BTDUBS... his 'wife' is his guitar and the video is from the 80's so quality is not superb.. but PLEASE listen!!! Its a beautiful song:)

Lights out!!

I often struggle with the fear of my child not wanting me to take his picture. You would think he would be used to it... and he is... but I don't want him to ever associate the camera with miserable. So today when our electricity was out for a few hours I had him help me with some chores and STOPPED him multiple times with a sharpie in his hand trying to color a little too close to some client packages. BTDUBS, I am pretty sure he is going to end up like me and be obsessed with office supplies. My organized desk is completely disheveled!

After our work time... I sat down to use my phone to check facebook...I mean its VERY important;). So for the first time EVER Harrison came up to me and sat in my lap and said, "I want to cheese for Mommy's phone"....awww!! Well, I only 'awwed' after 2 solid minutes of trying to figure out that he didn't want cheese as in food. So he sat there and actually let me take pictures of him for longer than 2 minutes..and he had lots of fun. Of course it was mandatory that he got to pick the cameras we used in my retro camera app... and he also got to use the touch screen to scroll through them after we were done. It definitely made me wish I had as good of a camera as an iphone.. my cell camera is pretty heinous.

I just wanted to share the pics with you all... and say next time your lights go out.... have a photo shoot! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Yay, I am getting another post done! Slowly but surely I will get caught up:) I am going to try to announce the date for the next Boudoir Marathon later today.. are you excited?? I am! Ms. A was the first appointment for the last marathon. We had a great shoot jammed out to Fleetwood Mac Radio on Pandora and had lots of laughs! I really enjoyed this shoot..(minus some equipment breaking toward the end). Overall it was a very fun, pleasant, and relaxing shoot. There is nothing that makes me happier than when a client comes in feeling very nervous and unsure and leaves feeling so comfortable and excited. Ms. S has been making big changes in her life and taking control by celebrating her freedom, loving herself, and recognizing her beauty as not just a mother but a woman. Just another reason that the people who get the most out of these shoots are the women who do them! I had a great time Ms. S and you are BEAUTIFUL:)

Hey everyone! I feel like I haven't blogged in forever! Okay so yesterday I showed you all a little sneak peek of Mrs. S's session... today I am gonna show you more of our faves! I love every single photo of hers.. she has amazing facial features.. and some of her images reminded me of old Hollywood. She did this shoot for her Hubby, but she was also doing it for herself... she has lost 100lbs!! How amazing! I am so proud to have been the one to get to photograph her new self and you totally rocked it out Mrs. S!! Hope you all enjoy and really give your chance to at least THINK about doing the next Boudoir Marathon.. what a great gift to yourself!

I have music playing while shooting when possible..and music is playing while editing AT ALL TIMES:) So I thought I would share what I listen to for each session I edit! Maybe I can help YOU find some good tunes you hadn't heard before:)

This session was completely edited while listening to Arcade Fire's newest album The Suburbs... check out one of my faves off the album 'We Used To Wait':) Arcade Fire actually played The Ryman the other night.. saw some footage from the show thanks to Lauren Anderson. Hate that I missed it:)
